Inspiring Connections Project

To raise awareness of Modern Apprenticeships within BAME communities in Renfrewshire and support in accessing opportunities by upskilling employability skills.

School of African Cultures

There is a lot of stigma and stereotypes about Africa and African people that the children are subjected to and this makes them disconnect and feel ashamed of their African heritage. They are also inherent structural inequalities that seem to promote cultural assimilation as opposed to cultural integration and the project hopes to address some of these. The project also hopes to foster a sense of identity, pride and self-esteem in children of African origin by giving them an opportunity to showcase information about their roots and identity.

Connected & Empowered

Our activities will be comprised of a combination of deliveries that support, inform and bring BME communities together through COVID19 restrictions and beyond through the provision of activities developed to raise awareness to individuals from diverse backgrounds of the prevalence and management of a number of health-related issues.

We hope that you and your families are safe and well during this challenging period. We wanted to give you an update on Pachedu’s work and what we are doing to help those who need our support.

Due to the current lockdown, Pachedu has had to suspend all face-to-face activities, such as Pachedu Sharing Lives, Sharing Languages Project and the School of African Cultures.

Pachedu Language Cafe

PLC will provide a relaxed, informal and supportive environment where adults will be able to come along to improve their English and make friends both from within the local community and beyond. The language café will initially be available once a week on the same day offering one 90-minute session in the morning, with the possibility of also offering another 90-minute session in the afternoon.

VORM-1-PNG

Quarterly magazine production for and by minorities: The aim is for PACHEDU to provide diverse communities in and around Renfrewshire a platform to tell their own stories and raise their concerns.

Women Included Connected & Empowered

Project Profile

Our experience of service delivery at a local level in Renfrewshire indicates that regular activities are needed to reduce barriers to engagement with regards a number of health and wellbeing areas by increasing access to mainstream service provision. In many such activities women, particularly from the minority ethnic communities are the last to access opportunities to take part in such enabling activities. The project aims to help the women taking part to identify and tackle barriers to engagement through increased engagement in a culturally sensitive environment.
