Empowering Communities, Embracing Diversity

Pachedu Men’s Group is a targeted project supporting men from ethnically diverse backgrounds across Renfrewshire and the West of Scotland. The project seeks to reduce isolation and loneliness, build individual and collective resilience, and raise awareness of the social, economic, mental, and physical health issues affecting men within these communities.

  • What the project is about- We create a supportive network where men and their families connect, share experiences, and work together to strengthen resilience and improve life chances.
  • Who it supports- Diverse ethnic minority men
  • Why it is important- The group supports integration by valuing cultural identity and designing activities that reflect the diverse backgrounds of its members. It provides practical support, training, and information on issues that matter to men today, helping them build skills, confidence, and opportunities.
  • The project’s goals or vision- The vision of the project is to create an inclusive, supportive, and culturally responsive community where men from ethnically diverse backgrounds feel valued, connected, and empowered to lead healthy, resilient, and fulfilling lives. The project aspires to strengthen integration, reduce inequalities, and improve life outcomes for men and their families across Renfrewshire and the West of Scotland.

  • Social games such as bowling, golfing, football, cultural and social events, workshops and seminars.

What problem or need does this project address?

  • What makes it unique? – The activities are tailored to fit diverse ethnic minority men considering the unique characteristic of ethnic minority men.
  • What impact do you hope to achieve? We create welcoming spaces where men and their families can connect, build stronger relationships, and feel a sense of belonging. Through shared activities and open conversations, we support integration and help break down stigma around men’s mental wellbeing.

  • Ethnic minority Men from 18+ but other men are welcome
  • New migrants, refugees, asylum seekers

Success Stories / Impact

This programme has supported over 35 men to be physical active, reduce stress and social isolation and more confident speaking up on men’s health. One example is the bowling game that was done with a time dedicated to an informal discussion about managing stress.
