Volunteering at Pachedu is more than giving your time. It’s about belonging to something greater—a movement that values every person, honours every culture, and uplifts every voice. Our volunteering programme is designed to empower individuals, build bridges between communities, and advance a shared vision of an inclusive, equitable Scotland.
We welcome volunteers from all backgrounds, ages, abilities, and experiences. Whether you are a student, professional, parent, retiree, or newcomer, there is a place for you amongst ourselves.
Your Role as a Volunteer
We offer flexible and fulfilling roles across our community programmes. Volunteers can choose their area of interest and commitment level:
Language & Identity Support
- Assist in ESOL sessions
- Help facilitate language exchange groups
- Offer friendly conversation support to New Scots
Community Wellbeing & Gardens
- Join our Garden allotment team
- Facilitate outdoor wellbeing activities
- Support gardening workshops and family days
Youth & Cultural Programmes
- Mentor young people in the School of African Cultures
- Assist with creative arts, storytelling, or cultural dance
- Help run youth events or holiday activities
Mental Health & Peer Support
- Co-facilitate wellbeing groups
- Provide non-clinical emotional support
- Assist in creating safe spaces for open dialogue
- Support families with Neurodivergent children
- Support our youth initiatives
Events, Outreach & Admin
- Support event planning and delivery
- Help with social media, marketing, or translation
- Provide admin support to staff and project leads

Who Can Volunteer
You can volunteer if you are:

- 16 years or older
- Willing to commit at least 2 hours per week (or project-based)
- Respectful of all cultures, faiths, identities, and abilities
- Open to learning and collaboration
- Living in Renfrewshire or surrounding areas (some remote roles available)
We particularly encourage applications from:
Refugees and New Scots
People with lived experience of marginalisation
Students and early-career professionals
Retired individuals and community elders and anyone else who is passionate about helping to advance our mission and vision.
